Robert C. Vowels,
who currently serves as Vice President of Membership and Student-Athlete Affairs at the NCAA, was named UDM’s Athletics Director, effective July 8. Mr. Vowels has more than 23 years of intercollegiate athletics experience. Prior to his present position at the NCAA, Mr. Vowels served as the Commissioner of two intercollegiate athletic conferences: the Division I Southwestern Athletic Conference and the Division II Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. He was also an Associate Commissioner at the Big Ten Conference and Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance at Vanderbilt University.
Barbara Milbauer
has been appointed UDM's Vice President for University Advancement. Over the past year, Ms. Milbauer has served as Interim Vice President for University Advancement and has demonstrated her more than 35 years of experience in higher education administration, advancement programming and comprehensive campaigns by providing effective organization and management to the University Advancement office. Ms. Milbauer previously held this position at UDM from 1993 to 2001, the year she retired. She returned to the University in 2010 as a development officer for the College of Engineering & Science.
Effective July 15, 2013, Deborah Stieffel
will become the Interim Vice President for Enrollment Management & Student Affairs. Ms. Stieffel has 28 years of experience in recruitment, admissions, financial aid, retention and enrollment management. For the past six years, Ms. Stieffel has served as the Vice President for Enrollment Management at Susquehanna University in Pennsylvania. From 1985 to 2007, she held positions of progressive responsibility in enrollment management at Loyola University New Orleans, advancing to the position of Dean of Admissions and Enrollment Management, which she held for eight years.
